The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a comedy musical about a group of quirky middle school students competing in a county spelling bee. As the contestants spell increasingly difficult words, they also reveal their insecurities, family problems, and hopes for the future. The show follows six main spellers, including William Barfée, Olive Ostrovsky, and Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, while a few adults run the competition. Though it is very funny, the musical also has emotional moments about growing up, feeling different, and wanting acceptance.
